Just posting to share a tip that worked great for my shop.
Last time I bought a bunch of used Newmans we disassembled them and had them sand-blasted.
Then we sanded the rollers quickly with some medium grit (maybe 220) to smooth them out.
They turned out like brand new in the fraction of the time it used to take us using brake cleaner fluid, WD-40, steel wool etc. Not to mention pennies on the dollar primarily in terms of labor.
Note this was with big 50x42 M6 graphic frames that were all metal and they were gunked up pretty bad.
I'd be tentative about doing this with the older composite material end plugs.
