Default Access Problems with AutoPunch Futura CE200

Hey Folks! Can anyone help me?
I'm struggling to access my Singer Futura program now that I have added AutoPunch.
When it asks for the access code and I type it in it just wont accept it.
I suspect it may be to do with the fact I originally installed it on my old PC?
First time it was no prob but now I have a new PC it just wont work again!
Can it only be used once? I just can't afford a new copy. Any way around this?

You do not need a new copy.
Mine used to do this. Just give it the number again and again.

But maybe, you may have to install the basic futura again (rename current directory OLD FUTURA first)... I had to re-install for other reason, and after re-install of them all, knock wood, mine has stopped doing this.

but first, did you actually get AutoPunch installed AND NOW, it tells you to put in the CD when you start the program? If so, put the disk in the drive, when it auto-starts the install procedure and asks for your serial#/access-code, just hit ESC and the futura program should proceed from there.

Mine has also stopped requesting the CD so very often (maybe 2-3 times in a month? now, instead of 3-4 times a week?)... so a clean install may be valuable if you have any of these time-wasters.

[I believe] It's Singer's misguided reliance on CD-Cops -- a "security" program that (I understand) has both logical check-sum aspects and PHYSICAL [do I understand this? noooo] aspects so that an out-of-balance drive will cause the disk to read as NON-authentic.

Many people prefer a notebook-sized computer to run the embroidery machine due to real estate constraints in the sewing room... portable drives seem (to me) prone to these balance problems... anyone else see an error in [Singer's] reasoning here???

Finally, I assumed you dl'd and installed the Futura patch from Singer site, that fixes the major failure after the c.Aug06 MicroSoft update? However, if I remember right, the MS update only caused Futura not to run if you had AP or HF (or other? plugin?) installed, so if you didn't, maybe you didn't get patch. OTOH, I believe the failure was one of total not-starting, not of asking for numbers. So that's why my first answers above omitted this.
