Default Adivce on which make of Embroidery machine.

Hi All

Thanks for looking. We are hoping to setup a new business in embroidery. The business will be run from home.

We have looked at the Brother PR1000e and almost signed on the dotted line however I had some small doubts about its ability to perform as a professional commercial machine running 8 hrs a day, 6 days a week. (If the work comes in!).

Anyway, we backed of and started looking at other brands. I spoke today, to a chap who reps for Tajima and although the machine he offers is slightly more expensive and doesn't have all the "apparent" bells and whistles the PR1000 has it makes me think that perhaps the Tajima TEJTII-C1501 that he is offering may be more solid and a better buy for a new business.

Please can you all offer some advice and maybe pointers as to where we need to go and what is best for our purse. We have a budget of £10,000 and little experience with these machines.

Thanks

JPU

ouch, sorry, save your money UNTIL you have the work coming in! sub it out until you KNOW you can afford a machine. otherwise I am sure you have the best of intentions... but so do people that buy fancy (expensive) exercise equipment... which now are in the basement or given away at a flea market!. If you think you can keep a machine runnint 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.. PROVE IT first... sub out the work, learn what you dont know. you have sales, customer service, problem resolution, vendors to find and work with, etc... not to mention digitizing (is it YOUR problem as an operator OR is it really a digitizing issue? you wont know until you have the experience)
Guess my concept is do one thing at a time.. .NOT ALL AT ONCE. sorry, you are following a path of failure otherwise. just too much all at once.

Sell now... get client base, find a digitizer you trust (who your contract embroiderer gives a thumbs up to) THEN think about buying your own machine... only then will you know whether your home sewing will do the job... OR maybe a 2 , 4, 6 , head... you wont know until you are in it for 6 months to a year.

PR1000 - hobby machine

Better check on the year of the Tajima as the new ones are Chinese made. What year is it?
