Default Advice needed for Futura CE-200

I am new to this and I am very confused about the features of the Singer Futura CE-200. I want to sew names on towels and add a decorative embroidered touch. Can I do that with the features that came with the machine? I have been browsing embroidery sites where I can purchase designs, but I do not know the correct format to save them in. Is that all I have to do? Where do I save it? Any help would be appreciated.

When downloading/purchasing designs from the net the Futura can use the following formats:
  • che
  • xxx
  • psw
  • pec
  • sew
  • exp
  • pes
  • hus
  • pcs
  • dst

The software that comes with the machine is very limited for embroidering names, words, sayings, monograms etc. You should get the Singer HyperFont software or SewWhat. Either one will allow you to convert True Type fonts (which are already in you PC) to stich files. True Type font are Times New Roman, Arial, etc. You can also download lots of True Type fonts from the net.

I just picked one up this week. I am really surprised that hyperfont didn't come with it. It is very expensive. I am really disappointed. I have also found it very difficult to get a tshirt in the hoop and attached to the machine. While embroidering tonight the top thread got caught below the foot and made quite a mess. Set off the machine safety and everything. I cleared it out and tried to restart it but it continued in the wrong place alltogether. Now the Tshirt is ruined I guess. Anyone had any similar experiences or advice?

Hi,

I haven't experienced the machine but as far as your comments about the design getting stuck at a specific point may due to improper digitizing of the design.

It could also be due to the format of the design. Sometime the same digitized design saved in any other format works. e.g if you have been trying pcs or dst files, try using exp or sew files.

I would also suggest you to always sew out a design on a scrap piece of cloth before sewing directly onto valuable products like t-shirts, sweatshirts or caps.
