Default affliction T-shirts style?

I am a graphic designer and have been taken to task to create a shirt for a customer. They want a shirt with the same type of inking or printing like on the "Affliction" T-shirt brands instead of traditional screen printing. They want to stay away from the 1-3 colors and the nasty feel of the actual screen ink itself. Two questions I need answered

Is the affliction brand of tshirts printed on witha special CMYK printer that I hear about, if so what brand. I would like to narrow down a list of shops in my area that can do this.

Do these printers work with a photoshop format and am I limited on the use of colors or gradients in the logo?

If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Also if anyone can refer me to a printer it would help. This customer wants a few at first, but is looking into starting a brand.

THanks

TACO
