I would give Anatol a call direct, or email
them. I am sure they would be glad to
help you.

Trying to re-wire from 3 phase to single phase. Think this is where they don't want to send info, it was going to cost $300 to send in and get re-wired by Anatol. Local electrician says its as simple as crossing a couple wires over. Much rather buy lunch as opposed to spending $300

"Local electrician says its as simple as crossing a couple wires over"
Normally I run when I hear those words! It reminds me of a rednecks
famous last words " hey guys, watch this". $300 is a bargin, however I
understand money isn't found on trees. When you change 3 phase to single
phase, you are balancing the load of three lines on to two. Make sure your
wire, relays, etc. can handle the higher amperage.Have your electrician call
me, if you like. I will try and walk him thru it.

Yeah $300 isn't bad when you factor in the cost of parts and labor to do the conversion. I converted my off brand quartz flash from 3 phase and completely rewired it with all new relays to distribute the change in load.

When an electrician says it's as simple as crossing a couple wires what he's doing is taking a system of 3 load carrying components rated to distribute that load safely, and wiring it so it only uses 2 of those load carrying components without changing anything else. Same/more load across 2 wires now as opposed to three.

In short, you're going to melt things and possibly injure/kill someone (worst case scenario). A competent electrician should be able to look inside the unit and rewire it without a wiring diagram, they aren't that complex. Changing components as needed and sizing wire correctly for the load is where the knowledge comes in. It would probably cost you close to what Anatol wants to do it.

Also make sure you have power delivery that can handle that load. 18x20 is a big load single phase, anywhere between 60-70amps I'd guess.

As stated by previous posters..... going from 3 phase to single phase is a big jump in amperage (to output the same amount of heat). The conversion factor is 1.73

So, to work with easy numbers:
A 30 amp three phase load is equivilent to a 52 amp single phase load (in wattage terms).

To do it correctly would mean a new line cord, plug and internal fuses... at a minimum.
