Architectural models

What is the recommended material for architectural models? Can foam board be used for this? Does the foam cut cleanly? Thanks.

We do a ton of cutting for model builders and use various materials. By far the most popular for structures are clear acrylics ranging from 1mm to 6mm thick as they are bendable, drillable and easily gluable and accept paints well. However various other materials are used depending on the degree of realism required. For example we use a lot of card or thicker papers, like if doing a terracotta tile roof we would use a terracotta coloured card, engrave the tile pattern, score for bending and then die cut with tabs that are gluable (if doing a pyramid shaped roof, we would take the shape to a flat pattern and bend it after).
