Engraving jewelry - silver and gold

I have had several people ask me if I can laser on silver and gold. I’m not really sure if I can. I have an epilog 35. I have cermac but have not used it yet. Would this be what I need to laser on silver and gold?

I know that lasers are being used for engraving the modular bracelets but I’m not sure what type of metal they are for sure. I’m thinking maybe stainless steel. I’ve engraved photos and graphics images on sterling silver and gold myself but I was using a New Hermes rotary engraver with a diamond tool for that process. My personal preference is for using the rotary engraver on jewelry, I think the end product looks much better and the reflective qualities resulting from using the diamond tool make the engraving look better. The diamond tool method has a classier look than does the black marking created by the laser. The processing times would be about the same for each machine on pieces around 1 inch in size. The rotary equipment will have an increase in production time more so than the laser as the piece size increases, this is due to the processing speed limitations of the rotary engraving equipment for these type of applications. The laser would require time for the application and removal of the coating (if applicable for gold and silver products?) There is No Pre-Treatment Required for the rotary process, but it does process a little slower than the laser.
