Environment needed for Laser

What kind of environment is required for a laser? Can it be set up in unheated space? (The computer would be in heated space.)

I wouldn’t go with “unheated”, but I keep the heat turned down to 50 degrees and keep myself warm with a space heater. The only problem I’ve had with the laserpro is the LCD display gets dimmer the colder it gets.

I’ve found it better to run the laser in the warehouse because of the problems the exhaust fan gave me with A/C system. Within 10 minutes it could pump room full of cool air and from there the system could never catch up. Instead in the summer I use an evaporative water fan like they use on the sidelines of a football game to keep cool.

I have heard this before about the A/C and it is a easy fix. the laser exhaust must draw air from some where IE the room its in the rest of the building for that matter it also does a good job of heating the outside in the winter. Here is what I’ve done to fix this. You install a duct from outside and place the opening in front of the laser (if your laser draws air from the front) this will draw your exhaust air from outside through the laser and back outside. Your AC will stay cool and your heat will stay inside.

I must say that’s a GREAT idea.

Your only problem might be condensation. More problematic would be very hot environments where the laser tube could overheat and shut down, depending on the system etc. Laser tubes are all cooled in one way or another. We run our 3 lasers in an air-conditioned space, figuring that considering we spent the big money on the machines, a few $ more for the right environment wouldn’t hurt. Our operators are also in this space and I live in a very hot country, so their comfort also counts. In winter our aircon also warms up the place, dispelling all moisture etc. Most laser mnfgrs will have a min/max temp operating recommendation, ask them and see if it conforms to yours.
