New laser

Got my first laser last week, and of course my regular job then got busy so I haven’t had as much time to play as I want. It’s a epilog mini24 45watt. I will now be picking all your brains to get up to speed. One question — I have been asked if I can cut some stencils for a friend, yet epilog says no vinyl or poly. What ate the stencil plastics made from? Acetate? Is that ok? more questions later, gotta sleep. :)

Congratulations on the new laser!

My understanding is it’s the PVC stuff you want to avoid. Chlorine gas release during lasing is the problem. Bad stuff.

Depending on the kind of stencil you want to make your material choices could be matboard, wood, thin acrylic, mylar, … There are many options.
