I visited both a Brother and SWF dealership to talk to them about getting my first single head professional machine. Both their machines are great in my opinion, but I thought the SWF machine was a bit more louder than the Brother. Also, the Brother machine has a self lubricating system and uses jumbo bobbins which are great pluses on my book.
Again, both are great machines. The SWF machine also had features that the other machine didn’t have. But to the point. What made me choose the Brother was their sales people. I didn’t get pressured and they did not bash other machine brands which I thought was great and that’s the kind of company I like to deal with. The SWF guys kept calling my house for ‘follow ups’ and they were very aggressive in their sales to the point of negatively talking about other brands. This kind of activity doesn’t set with me well. They (SWF) also kept pushing me to get their digitizing software too with the machine and they insisted that I needed it even though I flat-out told them I wasn’t looking for digitizing software.
I just wanted to share my experiences with you all. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. But, I also want to reiterate that both were great machines. However, I feel that when purchasing a machine, especially if you’re not very tech savvy, it’s great to have a bunch of great people behind the machine as well. Now, it doesn’t mean that all SWF dealerships are the same and that not everybody will have the same experience I did. Do your research well is at it boils down to!
Pushy salespeople are the best way to turn customers away in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your experience. Good on you for not letting your emotions get the best of you! It’s worth repeating that just because those particular salespeople are bad it doesn’t mean SWF machines are bad as well.
My experience with the SWF dealership in my area is the exact opposite. The SWF people were really friendly and knowledgeable from the very beginning until this very day. I’ve had my SWF single-head for 6 months and their after-sales support is excellent.
I visited dealerships of other machine brands too when I was still shopping around. Some salesman were very friendly and some were very aggressive to make a sale. If you feel the salesman you encountered was doing something wrong, what you can do is talk to the dealership’s manager. I’m sure the manger will do something about it.
swf machines are great and priced very reasonably. i would file a complaint to their boss if i was in your situation. also, when you buy the machine, it doesn’t mean the same sales guys will be doing your tech support. they have many different people working in a dealership and you can always choose other individual to work with after the sale.
