Default Best thread for the $(?)

I've been looking for good quality thread for my single head. I have a Gunold starter pack of 15 king cones (5000m) and they run $10 each. Poly 40 and not bad but would love to hear where others have found a good source that produces excellent quality and is good value to give you a wider selection of thread options.

I know Madeira, Gunold. I have heard of CTS and Robinson Anton but don't know much about them.

Thanks in advance.

Check out Marathon thread. I can turn you on to a distributor at 4.50 per king cone. Comes in over 300 colors textileusa.com

I could care less about price. $5 vs $10 on a 5k cone means next to nothing when it come to cost per stitch. You should be searching for a thread brand your machine likes. If you are having issues that you think are related to your Gunold thread you should try a similar color from other brands and see how they compare.

Our machine came with Royal thread. The darker colors (navy, royal blue, etc) were having tension issues for some reason. We switch to Maderia and those issues went away.

Unfortunately, you got locked on to any comment of mine about $. My intent was to solicit the best bang for the buck thread, not the cheapest.

Hit submit by accident.

Appreciate the info about Royal. Madeira was a great brand back 10 yrs ago and so far, most of my thread breaks have been self-inflicted.
