The trimmer knife is out of adjustment. The trimmer arm has a small bump or extension on the end that contacts the trimmer under the needle plate. This extension should sit in the middle of the round hole on the top of the needle plate. You can see the black round part from the top of the plate. If out of adjustment it will break needles.
To adjust you will need to pull the silver metal plate off of the top just behind the cylinder arm (silver plate that you remove to grease the gear). It will have two hex head screws. There will be a allen head bolt on the clamp that you will need to loosen and adjust if it is not in the correct position above. Once loosened it will allow you to move the trimmer arm (black color) backwards or forwards. It slides within a fork like assembly. Be careful not to loosen the nut too much as the assembly will fall down off of the pin.
