Default Brother BAS 416 Stitch issue

Again with a job in the hoop and an issue.

Ran great for an order that ran for two days. Then parked the machine for four days and it ran great for a few minutes. Then it started not catching the bobbin thread and holding the stitch. It would just lay down the top thread without catching the bobbin thread. So I stopped and checked the bobbin thread and the tension was good. Cleaned out the rotary hook and the bobbin case. Started running again. It ran ok but still missed a stitch here and there. Got through the front on the jacket and hooped up some test fabric. Started to run another design and it ran just fine on #1 and #2 needles. It missed one stitch on each but nothing big. Then got to needle #3 and it was missing really bad.

This is driving my bat crap crazy, because I can't seem to find anything out of sorts. Top tension is good and bobbin tension is good. But won't pick up that bobbin thread.

Any suggestions as what to look at?

John

Nobody has seen this before?

I checked the needle depth, timing and rotory hook timing and all looks to be right where the manual says they need to be. Wiped everything down again and try to start where it left off and it went for about 150 stitches then runs back to not picking up the bobbin thread. I let it run so I could watch the bobbin and rotory hook. That bobbin is just not spinning in there like it should.

Please anybody have any idea?

So am I bat crap crazy here?

I went through EVERYTHING again. from zero to the top. And everything checked out again. So the only thing that is "new" is the ball point needles. So for the sake of just tossing the machine out the back porch and into the rain, I put the sharp needle in the #3 bar. Ran about 1500 stitches. WHAT THE FRICK!!!! It stitched out properly!

Is this something common, or do I need to have those guys in the lab coats fit me for the hug myself jacket?

I run pretty much everything on sharps. Maybe that is why I haven't had the problem. Glad you figured it out.

I do a lot of stuff for the high school. They use that performance fabric for everything. A sharp will cut the fabric when stitching. So if there is an issue and the stitching needs to removed, the needle holes will be tears in the fabric. The ball needle will push through the weave and not cut. I have had the logo actually cut the fabric like using tear a way backing. Now with the jacket back I had to do today, the sharp is the only way to go due to five layers of stitching to go through on some of it.
