Re: Buyer Alert
Dave's right on the money. If the seller doesn't want to warrant the unit, the price should be considerably lower than a unit with a warranty. A warranty is an insurance policy for your purchase, the seller is betting it won't break, you are hedging your bet with a warranty from a reputable dealer, if it does break you are not exposed to unknown additional expenses for the purchase.
Anyone that is trying to middleman a deal that doesn't want to warrant the sale is telling me "they don't have much knowledge of the machine they are selling". This situation put's the ball in the buyer's court to go see the machine or as Dave suggests send a qualified technician. The risk can be high on presses with registration issues from worn bushings, bent shafts or CPU issues. Dryers can have rust or plenum damage that makes them unusable. The risks are high even with newer machinery, especially with the money that is involved with newer machinery.
Bottom line.. No warranty no deal, unless you are willing to put extra money in the a pre-sale inspection in person or using a technician. Research the dealer ask ink sales people, your local technician or Google (better yet all three).
