Default Can you use a metal halide bulb in a nuarc 26-1k?

According to Nuarc it flat out will not work. I remember seeing posts of people using a Ushio MH-1000/1 bulb (which is a metal halide) and it works. Just to be clear I am NOT talking about the Nuarc 26-1KS or the 26-1KS-SP which come with a metal halide bulb. Just a plain ole 26-1K that came with a mercury vapor bulb (GW114 I think??) . Has anyone tried this? Thanks, len
