Default Cap heat presses

I am thinking about purchasing a heat press for caps. Any suggestions? Are they worth the money. I have an embroidery machine too. Was just wondering if the transfers would be more economical for the customer and if they look good. Thanks.

I got mine last year, a Hotronix. Auto release, it's nice.

We haven't used it as much as we thought we would though. But, I'm glad I bought it.

The stock platen that comes with it is not good for low profile caps, the most popular style. It's more for high rider or trucker hats. It mashes and forms a line on the face of the cap front if you use low profile hats with it. IT will eventually come out, but not right away. We sprayed water on the inside to help speed up the recovery.

Hotronix sells the other platens separately. You get a better deal if you buy all 4 togther, but, if you don't need them, you're out the cash up front. I just bought what I needed.

The press will flatten the designs quite a bit. If you use applique,,,it will mash the fabric pretty severely. Also it can push the adhesive out from the design too, so use a cover sheet.
For the opaque type designs, it does a good job. I used some trucker hats and they pressed out fine,,,a little flattened, but it came back.

If you can, try to negotiate the deal with all the different platens with it. You'll need them all eventually.

Hope this helps.
