Default Considering doing some digitizing

I am considering doing some digitizing. I am wanting to learn more about what I would need to do that. I own a print shop and print on paper only but I am interested in embroidery also. I am currently doing page layout and design. Any info. you could give would be helpful. I am in the research stage and want to compare software and machines, etc.
Thank you,
Perry P.

Make sure to research all your options before committing. I have been in the business for 6 years and have worked on 3 brands of machines, 9 different machines in total, and used 3 types of digitizing software. In my opinion, which is only my opinion, I prefer Tajima machines. I feel that Pulse Signature and Wilcom digitizing software are both very good.

Just a few names to look up in your search for a commercial machines would be Barudan, Tajima, SWF, Toyota, Melco.

Ask for trial versions of digitizing software to test before purchase. I would suggest however starting out with just machines and learning that first. Purchase digitized designs from a proffesional digitizer. Digitizing requires good knowledge of how the machines stitch as well as the types of stitches and sizes to be used in certain situations.

Welcome to the forums pkp and edmontondigitizingchick

I completely agree with edmontondigitizingchick. She also made another great post about her experience with different embroidery machines you should take a look at if you haven't already done so.

Definitely demo all brands of digitizing software like digitizingchick said. I did and decided digitizing was not for me! I farm out all digitizing work and all my headache is gone
