I'm not completely certain on that press but I think when the printarms are disassembled you have to re-register the press when you install it again. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Even if you have the correct tools to re-register the machine, if you've never done it or have the exact directions to a tee then I would not attempt doing it. I've seen it done half a dozen times and there is no way I could do with what little I know about the process. Once you've done it a few times it really isn't that difficult, but you need the experience and know how to do it correctly. You don't have to pay an m&r tech to do it, there are plenty of qualified people out there that can register the press and then you can do the rest on your own if you know how to parallel an auto. I'd contact your local screen print supplier and see if they have any contacts for technicians and then I'd post on here whether or not that particular technician is known and is capable. Believe it or not, there are some private techs out there that are very sloppy and they aren't detail oriented enough to perform something as important as registering a press or even installing a press correctly.

If the registration bearings are mounted to the print arms and they were removed and reattached in the move you need a tech. A good tech should not take more than a couple hours to reg and level and set the off contact. Money well spent. Try to schedule the closest tech even if youu have to wait a few extra days.

You need a micrometer and the brace that holds the micrometer to register the machine. People thinks it is hard but is really not. Travis is right. Don't pay the tech to do this if you can do it yourself, you may spend a little longer the first time but once you do you can maintain your reg. yourself. Off Contact is very easy to set. Balance the machine is easy with 2 Long levels. Hummmm Tech..... 2 Levels, micrometer, brace and you already have the z-bar for reg...... your ready to do it yourself money not well spent on $90 dollars an hour from the time they move off the toilet take a super expensive lunch break and hotels and rental car.

Be careful if you use a tech. I have not used one personally but I have had to clean up the messes one left behind. Examples:

He would take several hours to register the press. If done properly it should only take 30 minutes. (I got mine within a couple thousandths in the time.)

He would not level the pallets with mush precision, then he would sell you the heavier chopper cylinders to compensate for the poor geometry.

Also, make sure your pallets are all in good condition. If they are not flat, or if they need new rubber, fix that problem before you pay a tech.

There are several other scams to watch out for....but just ask why on everything he tries to fix.
