Default Do you censor your designs/embroidery?

We had a discussion on here a few years ago about this but the world is moving at a pretty fast pace so people change.

SO. are there groups or slogans you simply will turn down?

I am reminded of this because of the very recent chapter closing of a frat house at OU of videos that have surfaced.

It is rare that something comes across in our orders that I have to question... but when it happens I ask others what they think and proceed accordingly. There are words I would Never digitize... period. But there have been things that just because I found them objectionable did not preclude us from digitizing them.

Is this just a personal matter for each of us in the industry or do you just take the money and stay under the radar?

There have been times I would like to say no, but you wouldn't like to see your customer go to another shop.
3 years ago, I wrote on a shirt, Gold Digger with the person name.
1 week ago, I wrote Jones B****.
During 2016 election, I voted for Trump( I'm asian) and couldn't tell my customer base about it because then my customer will stop coming, but on some shirts I embroidered f*** Trump. About 30,000 stitches.
I have people who want me to do corporation logo such as Domino, Chevron and other and I decline them, because I don't want to get in trouble. But there no decency in this world. It's a crazy world we live in, and the world will get more crazy.

Only once has someone asked me to do something that I turned down due to inappropriate content. I have to feel comfortable with of what I do. That is more important to me than the money.

I have turned down many things due to copyright issues. Many people don't understand that while others choose to ignore it.

i'm with Sun. I've done a few questionable designs, but they're usually meant to be funny, not mean. i haven't had a glaringly obvious rotten design. turned away many on copyright issues....just not worth it.

Thank you for your feedback. I do believe it is a personal decision. I totally agree with copyright issues. NO DISNEY for us. lol just not worth it. Or licensed teams, etc. I was more interested in foul language. F this person, etc. not that they could sue us, just felt not appropriate.

hopefully we have a close enough relationship with our clients that we can make a phone call and work any issues out.
