Default Embroidering on Horse Saddle Blankets

I am fairly new to commercial embroidery, and am experiencing a huge learning curve when it comes to embroidering on my biggest product offering - custom english saddle blankets! These blankets are quilted and sometimes fairly thick. The problem that I am having is that on almost everything I sew, whether it be lettering or a simple logo/design, the fill stiching is not covering the underlay stitching. I am having to sew out every design multiple times adjusting the pull compensation slightly each time to try and get it right. I am using Wilcom DecoStudio 1.5 to do all of my work...does anyone have any advice on what I might try to correct this problem? Different backing, needles, and thread type do not seem to make a difference...

Thank you!!

Frame with good strong backing. Ensure its tightly framed.
Maybe even consider to use a canvas with glue on one side and iron it onto the back side of the blanket for embroidery only. after embroidery you can peel it off again.
On barudan I know I have used a setting on the machine which widens the satin stitch by itself. We normally use this feature on towels and caps.

For thicker items and large scale embroideries I would recommend NOT using any automatic underlays. Do all underlay manually with running stitches that are at least 3.5 mm long and be loose with the digitizing on this part.. think "drunk spider"... you will go over all the areas a couple of times but not in any structured way.... what is happening now is your underlay is moving the fabric so by the time the top stitch gets there it is too late and registration is off.

Hooping is really not the issue as on your product you can not hoop tight enough to smooth out the quilted pcs. So you can never have a flat smooth surface.

PS. I "liked" your facebook page. nice job so far!

No, nothing special! I'm not that talented! The graphic designer that did my logo did do some re-sizing of it in an attempt to not have it be cut off by the new FB timeline template...it is still not perfect, but an improvement.

I am working on a website now as well and finding it a bit of a challenge to blend the equine aspect with the fact that I would like to have some general embroidery business as well.

Once it is live, I will definitely post the link to get everyone's feedback.
