Default Ever wonder why your tensions are suddenly off?

As the title suggests, I have been frustrated with the sewing quality of two needles on my 15 needle Barudan. Especially small text because with my luck, everyone I know wants to have a 30 character web address to fit in a 4 inch hoop.

On Barudans there is a silly little slot on the top tensioner. Somehow the thread got out of that little slot, even though it was still between the two steel discs getting pressure from the spring on the top tensioner.

That was all it took. Happened on two needles and no matter how tight I made it...loops and breaks ...loops and breaks...

To actually check the tension (33% method), it looked within spec.

Before you stay up all hours trying to figure out...start with that silly little slot between the two discs, and make sure your thread has dropped into that slot...All better now...Now I can finally go to sleep!

Not really a silly little slot. Its purpose is to keep the thread in the tensioner and keep from flying out or being inadvertently pulled out when working on the machine.

Some machines have that slot...some do not. Never realized it until I went poking around.
