Help with Brother BAS 416A embroidery machine

Anyone able to help with what is wrong with my Brother BAS 416 A? I tangled a piece of applique fabric on the presser foot and now it is not right. When you adjust the wheel/belt to 100 (as per error message) the needle is in the down position. If I manually push the needle up, it goes back to about 50 on the wheel. I get a needle case position error. I can't use the knob to set the case in position because piece, on the back that moves the needle shaft, is engaged in the needle shaft bolt. It is engaged to stitch, not change needles. Is it timing? Anyone know how to fix? My repair person is 3 hours away and I need it fixed asap.

I just rebuilt the head on my 416A and may be able to help. Did you ever get this issue corrected?
