Re: help, I'm stuck
it's two hall effect sensors. One was broken and replaced. tried the paper, didn't do anything.I talked to the tech at Datastitch today, and he told me that it may be the other sensor is also bad (scratched lens), the wiring harness may be bad, or the main motherboard has gone bad. To test, he suggested putting the sensor assembly on another 850 or 860 to see if it had the same problem. If with my sensor assembly on their machine, the problem was gone, then it would tell me that my main board was bad. If they had the same problem with my sensor assembly on their machine, then it would be the sensor. Unfortunately, I don't have a service manual, just the parts catalog and the user manual. UNfortunately, I don't have another machine to play with, or know anyone local that has one I could switch parts with.
I had the tech walk me through all the troubleshhoting that he could. One thing he had me do was to dissconnect the entire sensor and motor wiring from the system and boot it up.. It should have been able to initialize all the way through, but it didn't work. Then he had me leave it with the error code still showing and plug the stuff back into the system. That should have cleared the error. It didn't. From what he was able to determine, without actually checking the sensors, was that it is probably the board. the only other suggestion he had was to slice the wires on the x and y sensors and switch them. if that made the x moter work and the y motor bad, that would be the sensors. I just don't feel like slicing up the wiring harnesses just yet. I have an electrician that is coming over after work to check the sensors using his equiptment. and another guy that is going to bring over a tool to remove the wiring harness connectors without cutting the wires. So if the sensors test as good with the electrician, we can test them in the opposite locations without cutting any wires. Wish me luck. Oh, and just in case, the electrician, found the sensors for 93 cents apiece and ordered some for me. No more $50.00 sensors LOL Wish me luck. I really don't want to have to change the motherboard.
The tech had even suggested a weak motor, but disconnecting the motor canceled that idea.
I have attached the partrts diagram that shows the setup.
