Default Help! tiny stitch holes showing from taking embroidery out

I embroidered a name on a cotton material. I noticed the first letter was off, so I took the stitches out and started over. You can slightly see where the stitches were. I've heard that sometimes when you wash, the mark will disappear. Do I need to try anything else? Do I put anything on the area before washing?

You could try steaming the garment. Another option is to add a a patch of the same material (take a piece from the hem) and attach it to the back of the design with a product like Stitch Wichery (purchase at fabric store). I have "saved" a couple of shirts that way.
