Default How is this design made??

First off, no I do not want to do this exact design , I am only using it as an example.
The design I am talking about is the Logo of the Chicago Blackhawks. http://blackhawks.nhl.com/
How is this logo made? Is it appliqué or printed. Are they very time consuming to do?
Sorry I have to ask, I have only seen these design on the TV and internet, not in the flesh.
If I could learn it could be good business for me here in Germany.
Thanks
Earl.

We did some work for a local hockey team last year and they had jerseys that were very similar to the NHL ones. The designs are usually appliqued on the jerseys. The ones they had looked like free standing appliques that were then edge stitched onto the garments.
