Question How to know what to quote ?

I am very new to the embroidery world. I have a small home based sewibg shop and we make items to sell only to stores. We have been looking at adding an embroidery machine because a lot of the stores have been asking us to embroider the store logo on what we make. My question is once we get an embroidery mach and learn how to use it hiw would I know what prices to quote the stores for the logos? I have looked around on the internet but can't find any info on it. Any help or suggestions would be wonderful.

Thanks,
Paul

The price you can get for embroidery depends on your competition and what your customers are willing to pay. Go to some embroidery companies in your area and ask them what they would charge for a design stitched on your product.

The industry standard is about $1.00 per thousand stitches. A 7,000 stitch design would be about $7.00. Many companies have a minimum amount for a design and there may be a digitizing or set-up fee involved.

The price mainly depends on your competition.

Dennis thank you for your advice. I will look into it. By any chance have you seen my post on the machines I am interested in? Any input on them if you did get a chance to read it?

Thanks,
Paul

Hey Paul,

I read your other post, however; I mainly deal with commercial embroidery machines. I dont know a lot about the machines that you listed. I have worked on several Brother 600 series and a few Happy Voyagers.

Some of my customers have upgraded from the home models and have given good reviews on most of the smaller machines but I haven't kept track of which brands are better. Most of the complaints that I have heard is that they cant keep up with the volume or wont sew caps.

You may want to contact an independant technician who works on the smaller machines. They should be able to give you an unbiased opinion. (a salesman will give you all the reasons their machine is better) The same applies for the commercial grade machines.
