Gonna move into the DTG soon, this year, and need your input.

Any info appreciated.

Will consider buying used, but, there's always issues you have to worry about.

Going to hit 3 shows this summer and early fall, so I'll get the salesman's pitches there.

I've read several good posts on here, just want any info out there.

Also gonna do the heat press process too,,,,,,,,,,there's a demand for both out there.

I'd definately go with the Brother GT541 There are used ones out there in the $12k to $15K price range. I've seen a bunch of other machines out there and was not very impressed. I've had my Bro for over 3 years and have had no problems with it. Its a real workhorse.

The Brother is one of the only two true production machines on the market. The other is the kornit. However, the Brother is the afordable solution. I am a former factory trained technition and a current owner of a Brother GT541, and a Gt782, and former owner of a Kornit 932. Only consider the Epson based printers if this is only a hobby to you, otherwise just keep on walking...

Here is a question for ya. Why not get a printer/cutter instead of a DTG? Will be somewhat cheaper and no pre treatment needed on black shirts.

We've been researching frantically over the past few months on the DTG. The more we look, the more complicated it gets, in the sense of what's out there and available to us. We're still going to go DTG, but we're taking our time.

Frank Allnutt, we've talked about what you suggested, and we're looking into that seriously as well. We want to find one that can do it all, if it's out there. If there isn't one of that type, then we'll have to go with what we think will help us the most. There's a market for both in our area. Finances will dictate a lot of what we decide.

We bought a heat press, and that has proven a good move for us. Took us into a whole another market.

Still going DTG, it's a matter of when and which model. We need to print white, and on darks. That knocks out the Brother, but, the Brother is an excellent machine.

Hi Robert,
Yes they do.The Brother GT 782.I have one and its a great machine.Fills in for those small orders that you dont want to put on the auto.

The price tag on the Bother dark garment DTG is in the neighborhood of about $60K

For that price, you should look at the Kornit Breeze, as it auto-pretreats itself and prints wet-on-wet so there is no pretreat, press, print. Its just Print.

I have a dual-pallet Kornit storm and I love it. The only thing about Kornits, is you need the volume to keep it running often or you will be plagued with head clogs, although, that is pretty much the truth with ANY garment printer, especially the ones with white ink.

I've never used the Brother Dark personally, however, I have a buddy in the industry that has it, and he says that if he doesn't use his for the weekend, he spends the first 2 or 3 hours of Monday morning swearing and wasting ink to getting it running again. them to either buy mine back, or replace it. They replaced it, and every morning when I walk in, I could kiss that thing, Its a tank, it makes me $18 - $20 in 90 seconds or less, on retail walk-in onesies & twosies, which I actually have quite a bit of.

So who knows ...
