Default Info on machine set up

How can I get some info on machine set up and testing for embroidery thread that pulls loops to the top of garment being sewn. I have a Happy single head 12 needle HCA-1201-140TT. Also would like some info on machine maint.

Welcome to the forums

I forgot all about this post after I moved it. Your post was moved because it was buried in another post of another topic. Thus, your post was not getting much attention.

The first part of your question sounds like you're referring to a common problem called "looping." Looping is usually the result of the top thread tension being too loose. Embroider a design on a piece of backing that has a large fill area and tighten the top tension while the machine is running until the looping goes away.

Other common causes of looping include:

- improper needle installation (make sure the needle is facing the right way)
- dull or bent needle
- needle depth not properly set
- incorrect rotary hook timing not set properly (see your machine manual to adjust hook timing)

Basic machine maintenance generally involves cleaning, oiling, changing needles, and other minor things that should all be included in the machine manual.

If you're mechanically inclined, you can attend seminars and even take a course on machine maintenance and repair. Your dealer should be able to provide more info on this.

With regards to thread tension. There are top and bobbin thread tension gauges you can purchase in order to get consistent results and also if you don't have enough embroidery experience to know what "proper" tension should be like.

Let us know if you have more questions.
