Hoping to get some real professional help. I am looking to buy an Auto used. Looking at a 6/8 Anatol - Brannons, 6/8 Freedom if still available and a 8/10 Trooper with all the bells and whistles. Is the Freedom equal to the Anatol? Lawson even in the running? Bound to be some knowledge here that will help. Thanks

It all depends on the kind of work you plan on doing and also the specific machines, options, pricing, age and condition they are in. One thing I would suggest, is to go with an 8 color or bigger. You will most likely outgrow a 6 color pretty fast.

You will hardly get any info providing that you did not supply any info.
Who are you? How long are you in the business? What is your business? What sort of printing you are doing? What sort of printing you are intending to do? What is your turn over? How many shirts your are printing per week? How many colors? How many shirts you are planing to print? What is your market target? etc.

Those are some of informations you have to provide in order to get useful help.

I would advice you to call Robert and have a chat. He will point you in to right direction.

I would suggest you call the mfgs you are intrested in and see if they can give you any contacts of people who have been using their equipment so you can call them and pick their brains. Robert is the last one I would call, simply because he is not and never was a printer.

JMD I appreciate your hate for Robert but you should not give wrong advice to guy.

If you are after new press than is ok to call MFGs and ask for reference. If you are after used machine you should call somebody that knows them inside out. I don't think that you will find person that knows them better than Robert as I doubt that there are many people that pulled apart and put together more different machines than Robert did.
There is guy on this board Gerrypg. He went through similar process as you recently. He spoked to a lot of people. Maybe you should call him and ask him who he would recommend you to talk to?

I have spoke to Robert and he has given me great advice on what to look for in a used press and also how to negotiate the best pricing for new presses and it worked. Robert outside of his online persona is truly a great guy to talk to. Give him a call. The one thing that Robert has is passion for the industry, he loves machines and knows them in and out. By the way when I was considering buying new he did not try shoving a Printex down my throat. I told him what I thought my budget was, my volume I am doing and he shared what machine he thought would fit well with my requirements.

Well I ended up buying used and will not hesitate to call him when I run into problems. Call me a hater if you want to but I dont have a problem with him, I find the online antics pretty fun and entertaining.

Out of the 3 that you mentioned, Anatol is a much better press. Contact Anatol with the serial number and they can give you information on the press.

Promo JMD's advice is pretty spot on. The last thing he needs to do is talk to a sales guy that is just trying push machines out the door. He needs to talk to the people that are running these machines daily. And before you go there defending your buddy I have spoken to him several times as well and I have a different opinion than you do about the man. Honesty is not his best quality.

For your machines that you have listed I would go with the Anatol. If you can hold off for a bit you will start seeing people move machines once the slow down hits at the end of the summer production. You will be able to get a lot at a good price when there are more machines available. If your not in a huge hurry take your time and research, research, research. Do not rush into purchasing the first thing that comes along. When you find a machine get the serial number and call the manufacturer to get its history. Do not be afraid to have a tech go look at it before you buy it. The few hundred it cost may save you that 10 fold if there is something wrong that you dont catch.
