Just starting. embroidery in Boston

Hi all
I am new to this whole scene. I am a part time art teacher (looking for full time) hoping to supplement my part time income. I come from a long tradition of fiber artists so I know a bit about thread works. Right now I would like to start with digitizing work and eventually buy a multi-needle machine. However, I do not even own digitizing software yet. Can anyone recommend a good entry-level digitizing software? Or perhaps you have a copy of a version old software you would like to sell?

Part time teaching is akin to a vow of poverty so I am really hoping to get into the embroidery work to help out.
