I just wanted to bump this old thread along. Support USA Labor in every way you can. Buy American. American Cars (Like BMW made in Spartansburg NC), American Tees and knit tops (American Apparel made in LA), American Apparel Contract Manufacturers (like Town & Country in Lugoff SC), American Knit Hats (Like US Artex Knitting Mills in Westville NJ), American made embroidery (I have a list as log as my arm), and especially valid here, USE AMERICAN DIGITIZERS. I punched for almost 20 years, was out of the industry for five years, and started digitizing again last year.
When I do outside work (rarely) I supply my punch files in both .STI (Condensed Wireframe) and .DST (Stitch Files Tajima Format). Most American Digitizers will supply a condensed file, which will allow scale changes and edits from most digitizing systems. When I first punched a full back Harley Davidson Jacket Back, it was punched for a full back men's Denim jacket. When they decided they wanted to do women's too, It was a quick minute to bring it down 2 1/2" in size, and when they wanted to run Leather, I took all the density down to 80% so that they could have embroidered jackets, and not $200 leather patches.
So all of you who are growing your businesses, consider using an experienced US digitizer. We are always working to make you the best appearance, and not to boost stitch count to build $$'s.
