Looking for single head...
I'm replacing a Melco 6-needle, which has served me well for a number of years without any external support required - but they tried to sell me a basic disk reader/drive that is available for $8-12 in any computer store for - sitting down? - $475.
Tho' I have few complaints with the machine, I cannot go back to a company who thinks so little of an original customer to attempt to bend me forward like it's my first night in a NY jail.
I don't think my 6hrs per week useage will justify a new $10,000+ machine, so I'm either going to have to find a good used machine, or maybe drift over to SWF as they're prices are about 70% of similar machines.
I'd appreciate any thoughts if you've had to make a similar decision. As for the disk reader; there's a fellow on Ebay in Mass. that mods disk readers to be useable in the Melco machine for about $30.
