Default Machine Selection Help...

My wife and I are looking to replace our Brother PR-600 embroidery machine with either a SWF or a Barudan. Can anyone give us an idea which is a better machine to go with? Does one software package have an advantage over the other? How about support? We are currently embroidering shirts, hats, blankets, etc. with a max run of 100 to 200 pcs. Also, they are both trying to convince us that a 15 needle machine is the best way to go but we think that is overkill for what we are doing. Does anyone have any thoughts on this as well?
