Re: Melco EP1 complete package. Plug and work.
Hi Louis, Since you are the expert, maybe you can answer some questions for me, please. I just bought a used Melco EP1 which is probably 20+ yrs old. It didn't come with an instruction manual - just a Premier System Disk (EP-1, CH-1, Emc 10T, Emc 10-4T); a Stellar 1 Embroidery Machine data disk No. 1 Ver 1.1 with 5 fonts, CR 1987 Melco; and finally a disk with 3 fonts and sports symbols on it. These are the old floppy 3-1/2 inch square disks. The machine needs some cleaning but runs great. It has a Premier keyboard with floppy drive for data entry. I tried bringing up the files using a Wilcom sizer and a Melco Sizer program, but no luck. Does a machine this old use a DOS file format? I tried .CND, .DST, and .EXP. Can a machine that old be converted to link with a computer program? A telephone line connects keyboard to machine. I have been researching, but no one seems to know much about this old machine. I also bought a used Brother PE150 and have PED embroidery card converter on order. I only have the designs and block fonts that came with the Brother machine, so I am limited on designs until the PED Basic setup comes in. I would like to make some "vintage-look" new linens and gifts for my shop when I get up and running. I don't plan on getting into anything too deep - just have fun! Any info you can give me would help. The deal on your Melco would be great for someone just starting out. Unfortunately, I didn't do any research until after I got the opportunity to buy the used machines. Do you have a manual? My machine looks just like yours. Thanks! Donna in SW Louisiana
