Cool Need advice with a embrodery machine purchase

Hi Just wanted to get some feedback from all you seasoned embroders.
Im in the market to buy my first machine and wanted to know what kind I should get.
What i want to do is logo work on shirts, hats and maybe some designs on bookbags ,purses and sholderbags .What kind of machine should I look for ?
Do i get a single head or not ?
New or used ?
what brands are better ?
Are some limited in there designs or fonts ?
Price is a concern but I understand you get what you pay for.
Any help or info would be great.

I would purchase a new machine unless you able to get training from an experienced person on an old machine. Also, it would be better if an experienced person could help you check out used machines before purchasing. With a new machine you'll get training and some type of after-the-sale support. Choose a company that offers training that is close enough to your location so you can attend. Software doesn't have to be purchased from the same manufacturer. If you don't have orders ahead of time I would go with a single head.

Most people will say that they prefer the machine/ software they chose. I went with Tajima/Pulse software. I was able to get personal training and the email/phone support was good. Pulse has an email support list and a new online community. Also, Ed Levy runs EmbForum http://www.embforum.com/ which is Pulse help/training group.
