Both machines are from a well known source and have good reps. Still you need to answer a few other questions.
1) How much mechanical/troubleshooting experience do you have
and how mechanically inclined are you?
( Being used there will be no initial company support for learning your machine)
2) How is the customer support
for the respective brand in your area? Are there other Embroiderers in the area and are they receptive to your questions
? Are they willing to assist
in looking at your machine to help you
or will you be totally on your own in this
?
3) How much do you have in your budget, can you afford
to have either of the brands Tech. Rep. come over and check out your purchase?
4) Do you want your machine to be a "Stand Alone"
or a "Networked"
setup?
The Melco will require that you load the Melco Operating Software on your computer in order for it to operate.
If I am not mistaken the SWF has it's own computer within the machine like the Tajima's and you can load designs via floppy, CF Cards and possibly even USB Drives.
I am very very partial to having a system that operates without having to be connected to an outside computer system. No problems if you have a computer problem as you can save your designs in files on an external media source and load into the machine and still be in operation while computer repairs are being accomplished.
Just a few thoughts to get you thinking!! Best Wishes
