Default Need Help With Toyota 850 "Needle Case Error"

Hello All! I am a *new* member & found this forum while trying to google an answer for the issue I am having with my Toyota 850. I have only had this unit for 1 month & due to time constraints, a real job & part time "Nana Duty" while my daughter is in grad school, I have not had a whole lot of embroidery time.

Last night I was embroidering on grosgrain ribbon backed with Floriani Heat N Sta (which is per the instructions on the literature from Hope Yoder) Anyway...I don't think my problem is from sewing on ribbon becasue I successfully made 3 designs. No issues. Working on the 4th, exact same colors as the other 3 in the exact same sequence...when the embroidery (top) thread started looping & then it wadded up under the embroidery piece & above the cover plate of the bobbin. When this occurred the unit stopped & when it stopped the needle came out for the needle arm & was stuck in the bobbin. I pulled it out. Looked at it pretty close & then re-installed in the needle bar (the bar the needle assembly is in when it's the one being used for stitching) ...I took the hoop off & removed the embroidery. There was no other way to get the wad of thread loose other than to cut it. After I got that far, I pulled the bobbin out & everything looked okay but I replaced it anyway. I cleaned out the bobbin case & reinstalled the bobbin. The unit still keeps beeping & the LCD screen displays "Needle Case Error" The flywheel in the back moves freely & the needle bar goes up & down & through the hole tot he bobbin..... And I can't figure it out. I don't even know where to look for a RESET button.

I tried calling the seller today (place in Houston) & they must be off today or something becasue I couldn't leave a message on thier phone system & I even sent a FAX & I still have not heard anything back. Doesn't mena they won't call, they just didn't call today & I was sure looking forward to working on my projects this weekend.

I am a newbie @ this, so I appreciate any & all help from more experienced machine embroidery owners.

Sam

You may be looking at a couple of issues with this.

You may be getting the needle case error because the needle is not lined up with the hole in the needle plate. If you look behind the head you will see a knob ( I believe on the 850 there is a place to use a flat head screwdriver) If you turn that knob you can adjust the head to its proper position.

I would look at the tension or timing on the machine for the cause of the wadding thread (birds nest).

The Birds Nest may have knocked the machine out of time.

AJST is correct. On the right side behind the head there's a stub you can turn that moves the needle case. With the machine on, take a flat headed screw driver and turn it to move the needle case left or right until you hear it beep and it clears the error. Just make sure if it has a needle picked up in the driver to be sure you don't hit the holders with it while turning the stub. He gave good advice on the birds nest and looping problem too!

HTH,
Rob

Bird's Nest is the most common suspect when the machine is showing such symptoms.

I owe a huge THANK YOU to Dennis. I was on vacation last week & was not able to attempt to try his solution. I did it when I got home. I first turned to the right & the beeping continued. I turned it to the left & PRESTO!! It went to the start of emb. I am totally in awe & I am very grateful. I'm a newbie at machine embroidery & my attempts may seem juvenile, but it won't be like that forever! Here is my blog: www.samsewsandcrafts.blogspot.com
Thank you again, Dennis!
