Assuming you're referring to the older "orange" presses, the "inexpensive" turnbuckle-style micros on the CAPS presses were their main weakness. If you look at the screen-tilt adjuster on the top, you'll notice that it used heim joint fixtures instead of the cheaper turnbuckles with o-rings. There's a lot less flex and slop in a heim joint fixture. I was going to replace all of the cheap turnbuckles with the heim joint pieces on mine, plus add some springs over the threaded rods connecting them to help load the threads before I stumbled on a slightly used press that solved all my problems. I estimated the cost to be around $150. Parts can be had from McMaster-Carr.
