Default New Business and New equipment

Currently looking into starting my own screen printing and vinyl business. I have done alot of research and think I have a clear understanding of the business at this point. But one thing I am not sure on is what brand of equipment I should purchase for screen printing, vinyl cutter, and heat press. Any direction would be great.

Roland cutters have my vote. i have a GX-24 that has been perfect.

Heat press... you cant go wrong with a Hix. I have an air auto from Hix but I also have a manual from GEO Knight which has performed flawlessly.

SP equipment is going to be another topic. you will find people very loyal to their particular brands.

M & R, Workhorse, RJennings are a few that I have seen many times with positive inputs.

Vinyl Express cutters are alittle less expensive than the roland but I have owned two and both are great machines.

I agree Hix builds really good heat presses. Hot tronix are also good to get started with.

as for Screen printing presses M&R builds really user friendly equipment a good little press to start with is the Sportsman 2 it can handle large and small frames and come up to 10 colors we have 2 and can run 500 shirts an hour without any problems

Does anybody have any input on Printa system 6 color system package. What are the pros and cons. I am actively seeking equipment to purchase and I want to know if this is a good start. I am ready to get into this business. I am ready to learn and learn from my mistakes. That's the fun in this journey. Firm and honest advice will be welcomed.

Printa 6 color is the only way to go if you are looking at printa for equipment. No matter what press you go with, go 6 color minimum.

Anyway, Printa offers a good package for startups. However, you must understand the limitations. If your orders are small (<500 pieces), then this can be a good system to start. Its not designed for volume production. Know your market before you buy anything.

I have several acquaintances that own the printa system and are VERY happy with the equipment and support. I have also met people who were not happy with it but they expected to do heavier volume than it is designed for.

If you are brand new to the business, you need to make SUPPORT your most important element to look for. Most equipment manufactures are just that, manufactures. Who are you going to get training from? Who are you going to call if you have a question about how to print on a certain product? and so forth....

Talk to the support people at Printa. Ask for names of current Printa owners you can contact. Ask the contact specifically about support.

Enjoy!
