Default New Futura user

Hello! I am a new Futura user. I have some questions and can't seem to find the answers. I have purchased additional fonts from a digitizer. When I enter my Futura software I am able to download a single letter, but I am not able to write an entire word or name with the new fonts. I only only able to use the Singer fonts. Any ideas? All would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kimberly

Are you using the AutoPunch add-on software? It is a very limited digitizing software and you really need to use the Singer HyperFont software to convert True Type fonts from your PC to stitch files. Once you have HyperFont installed, you just type as you would like in a word processor using any font that you have available on your PC or you can also download lots of True Types font from free sites. So this is the way to be able to "write an entire word or name" as you put it. There are other lettering software out there that you can purchase that will not restrict you from only creating stitch files for your Futura.

About the digitized fonts that you purchased. Single letters can be combined to form monograms, words, names and so on using Embird Basic and Embird Studio (you'll need both). So what you basically do is open each letter that you want to use to form a word and then copy the letters to one work area.

About the Futura font problem, I too have been struggling with finding information concerning using different fonts, ones found in the Singer Stock Designs I received with my machine. I use Auto-Punch/Hyper Font but never knew about the Embird programs. I am going to investigate them asap because I have some projects that need special fonts.
Thanks for asking the question I needed the answer to.

You can also do combining of multiple designs/letters with SewWhat, by SandSComputing.com. It is a fairly inexpensive program ($50 US). With SewWhat, you can combine designs, convert almost any kind of design, and it also has limited abilities to convert any TrueType Font on your computer to Applique, satin stitched or filled letters.

I've been using it with my Futura for about a year and have been very happy with it.

I'd be glad to answer any other Futura questions ... also, there is a great Yahoo site for Futura owners: futuraembroidery
