Exclamation Payments

If you are trying to buy something from this site, how do you protect yourself ensure that the equipment is in working order and that you actually receive? Do you payment before or after shipment?

I would think that the best way to not get shafted would be to go and look at the equipment and be ready to make a deal then. If you do buy it, then rent yourself a u-haul and pack er' up or arrange shipping.
The key thing that you said was, "something from this site". Your buying from an individual using a section of this site, not this site. So terms of payment is up to you and that individual. Just be careful.

I can't inspect the equipment because I am in a different state. So I am just going off pictures and his word.

Alice, if you buy something from a website, just make sure their online payment receives escrow service. Escrow service is a service where the seller will receive their money after the goods has been delivered in a good condition to the buyer.

If you cant see it in person, then try to get an independent tech to inspect it first. There are many techs who can perform this for you. I would also suggest getting something in writing that states the terms of the deal and who is responsible for what.

Thumbs up Worked for me

I got a squeegee sharpener from someone at this site
and I'm totally pleased with the transaction.

I just go with my gut feeling.

You need a legal contract in writing signed by both parties. I also wouldn't buy a machine from a picture. It just doesn't make sense. With all the money spent on the machine itself it must be worth a few bucks to drive/fly out to see it before you buy it. Would you buy a car just from a picture??
