Default PLEASE - Tajima TEHX-C1501 Help Needed!

For some reason, the thread hook is no longer extending far enough to actually "hook" the thread and pull it back into the thread holder. This leaves threads in the way and they get dragged and stitched into the design. My repair guy has retired and I'm trying to learn to maintain this on my own.

Deductive reasoning leads me to at least one of the following conclusions...
1.) The pulse motor is failing and not extending as far as it should.
2.) The parts are worn and do not operate smoothly anymore... simple friction not allowing the parts to extend all the way.

Side notes that may help...
1.) If you manually extend the thread hook by pushing on the connecting rod plate, it doesn't spring back like I feel it should. You can usually see it sticking out of the thread holder.
2.) This mechanism has never been greased. Is it supposed to be? My repair guy never told me to grease or oil this section.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

- Mike

Have you tired re positioning the thread bard and make sure the velcro isn't catching anything? Also on the solenoid is a spring and 3mm allen head bolt try loosening the screw and sliding the spring closer or further away on the shaft and see if it imporoves. That solenoid rarely goes out.

I don't know what you mean by re-position the thread bard. Please forgive me... I'm trying to learn. Any chance there is a video somewhere that shows that?

I took the bar off the bottom and cleaned between the Velcro real good... and the thread hook doesn't appear to be bent.

If I can make a video and slow it way down so you can see what is happening, would you be willing to take a look and tell me what you think?

I meant to say bar not bard it added a d. The bar is the holder with the velcro on it. If it is at the wrong angle it can cause it not to retract as good.

I'll mess with that in the morning and let you know what happens. If it doesn't fix it, I'll take a few slow motion videos. I think that might really help. Thanks again!

Mike if you unscrew the thread bar that embroidertek mentioned and activate the trim cycle by hand and watch to see if it fully extends and snaps back then the issue most likely is the thread bar,or the Velcro is coming unglued or the wiper has bent slight,y and goes under the Velcro rather than through it.
When you check and make sure the Velcro is fully intact and that the bar is straight all the way along, once you have reattached it as you tighten the screw activate the wiper manually over and over as you tighten to ensure smooth passage .

I'm pretty sure the retraction spring is shot... but I can't figure out why the hook is pushing the thread and not grabbing it.

There are two videos on this page... http://mikewillis.com/tajima
You might have to view them full screen to see the thread get pushed.

Maybe the thread hook is out of line and just needs to be adjusted... Never had this issue before, so that seems unlikely.

Start sewing then stop after 10 or somstitches, make sure your on needle 15 as it's easi r to see, then pull down the wiper by hand and watch its path as it comes to the needle thread, the point of the wiper should be slightly to one side in order to guide in back into the hook on the return part of the cycle, if there is any roughness on the wiper it will hold the thread rather than slide by it..polish it if needed
