Default Quick Change use?

I am curious if anyone here has any positive or negative feedback on the quick change embroidery hooping alternative. It is an expensive option to use when dealing with multiple heads so I am curious if it is worth it and if so, the cheapest place to buy it?

Any other options instead?

Thanks all!

I have wondered the same thing, the company I used to work for never went for it because of the price. Although the clamping systems we did buy were unequaled!!!

I haven't used this system but it looks like its another version of Fast Frames which I do use.

Jennifer,

It does look similar to the Quick Change. How do you find this set up? I am guessing we would need to buy 8 of these set ups for our machine, so I am wondering about cheaper alternatives, and if it is worth the investment. Can you really embroider things with this sytem that you normally couldn't?

I did a search in Yahoo "quick change embroidery hoops". We use this type of frame for hat backs, sleeves and bags. I prefer this frame rather than small hoops because its easy to get everything straight. You do need sticky backing but some people only use a "frame" of sticky and slip regular backing inside the frame. Some people have trouble with glue from the backing gumming up their needles and causing problems but I just occasionally check for buildup. Also you can lubricate needles with a product like Sewer's Ease. The only issue I've had is with heavier items such as bags you have to make sure the item doesn't slip out of position when you're starting but after a few stitches you should be okay. The sticky backing I use isn't real tacky so that's probably why I have the slipping issue. You can purchase tackier backing but then you're more likely to have the gummy needle problem. Also, heavier items may need to be supported so the items don't drag on the needle plate. Another alternative is using clamps which are better with heavy items but are a more expensive investment. I use Fast Frames:

You might be able to purchase these used or if you purchase new buy after a show such as ISS and ask for the show price.
