Default Ricoma, any thoughts??

Hey all,
I am looking for a single head machine to buy very soon. I have been to the classified section many times. I really like the Brother/Baby lock machine, however the sewing field seems to be to small for my needs. The Ricoma machine seems to be priced about the same, with a much larger sewing field. Question is, I cant find many reviews or testimonials to thier product. Any help, useage, feedback would be appreciated.
Matt

uh.... stay away....

i personally know several people who bought the machine and have had nothing but problems. from powerpacks to mother boards to circuit boards.... it seems to be electrical issues not mechanical. i am sure they will get them figured out at some point but right now i would not recommend buying it.

also, i have heard that they are not giving the support they promise.

use caution....

I would personally stay with either Barudan or Tajima ... Preferably Barudan.

I used to be the production manager for a large embroiderer in Brisbane.
My boss who is Chinese decided to purchase a 6 Head Feiya from China.
Feiya is the same company that builds the RICOMA machine. RICOMA is
the OEM version.
For a while he was even promoting this equipment.
Fortunately we quickly realised although the price was great, the quality of
the machine was terrible. The quality that the machine produced was woeful.
The entire exercise was a complete and utter disaster.
We eventually dumped the machine to free up space.
Never again would I ever purchase a CHINESE embroidery machine.

I bought a Toyota 850 used, works great. look into buying used from the companies that make them, that way, you can still get possible training and support.
Mainly, when buying a machine, find out what machines have close support and repair people.

Matt I have a ricoma embroidery machine. I would not recomend getting one, if someone told you, you could have it, if you would come get it out of there way. My problems are electrical, the machine cuts off in the middle of sewing when you restart the design it moves the register, customer support sucks, they will talk to you but have not got a clue whats wrong. They don't honor there warranty. When I called they told me they never heard of one doing what mine is doing but apparently they lied if other people have them doing the same thing.
