Re: Ricoma, any thoughts??
Oh, and Miguel, FULL punching on a machine is almost worthless to a serious digitizer/operator. I'd love to see someone demo THAT feature....

You can also connect an external monitor, mouse & keyboard to the machine and work separately if you want to.
Please take a look at one of the videos for this touch screen machine:

Let's examine the chinese engineering effort. They take an embroidery machine apart and then duplicate the parts and call it xyz. While doing so they figure out how to make changes to certain parts lowering the cost to produce. Why heat treat that part, those springs don't need to be tempered, we can use plastic instead of steel or aluminum and so on.
You're machine can hum along at first but I'll put your new ricoma against a 18 year old zsk, barudan, or tajima and guess who's machine will still be running and have value?

I agree TOTAL I have been a machine tech for 25 years I started my own Embroidery business one year ago I own 1 Ricoma 6 head RCM-1206C-H. I bought from a family member who owned an embroidery business and her operators was scared of it and wow every order i run I have to work on it support leaves ALOT to be desired I all so own a BARUDAN BEAT IV single head that must be 30 years old it is a given Barudan head and shoulders above Ricoma and i would gladly show up to a show and argue the point !
Especially over the support.

Re: Ricoma, any thoughts??
I like your story LRick.. but WHY would someone who has been a machine tech for as long as you say , 25 yrs, agree to purchase the Ricoma machines? did you never deal with them in 25 years? I mean did you just put 25 years of time in or did you actually work on machines on a weekly basis and understand them? (you cannot say you do because even a cursory inspection and trial time with them would have alerted someone with your experience to RUN , not walk , away from those machines)

I have to agree with Eric. I use the Barudan and its a great machine with a large surface. I've had no problems.

Re: Ricoma, any thoughts??
Hello Guys,
My wife is considering to buy one Ricoma,
So here I am to ask for an advice, and i would appreciate to receive one especially from those how are since a while here.
We do little volumes of embroidery and mostly unique designs, and for this we bought bernina 530 with embroidery module one year ago. (we did something like 2M stitches in a year)
However the volumes were a bit to big for household machine, so we've decided to go for industrial embroidery machine and software for "digitizing" pictures.
Our budget is 10k$ and we live in Ukraine (Market of used machines is not big in here)
So we got following options:
1)
We buy Ricoma 1501pt for 7500$ (i'm kinda worried about the support we shall get in Ukraine on this one)
2)
Or we shall look for the machine you can suggest within the budget.
Thank you in advance for your advices.
I will be happy to bring more clarifications if there is need.
Kind regards,
Myroslav

Re: Ricoma, any thoughts??
We bought one two heads Ricoma Embroidery Machine, only ran almost 50 hours, then something wrong, the speed was slow, wrong location stitched, tried to contact Frank Ma to settlle an agreement to return it or change another one, but never answer me. So I suggest the people to buy the SWF, Brother or Tajima brand, they are good. This is my stupid decision to put $15000 on RICOMA
