I'm looking to get into the embroidery/screen printing business and thougth it might help to go to a trade/vender show. Can anyone tell me where and when there might shows in the midwest this fall? Thanks

Also, if anyone can tell me start-up costs, time investment, first year expectations I'd be grateful!!! Or anything a newbie might want to know.........

Check out www.issshows.com for a listing of Imprinted Sportswear shows from now thru most of next year.. There you can see many machine distributors with their wares... and take some courses while you are attending the show. Really a valuable experience for people wanting to learn.

Thanks for the ISSShows link but unfortunately there aren't any shows in the midwest until August of 2009.

Are there any other suggested shows coming soon??

The next big show is SGIA in Atlanta, GA. it should be quite impressive.

While waiting to attend a show I would do some reading. There is a lot of free information on the decorated apparel industry in industry trade journals like http://www.asipublications.com/Stitches/ and http://www.nbm.com/pw/. I would also spend a significant time writing a business plan. Thinking about who you'll market to and how to do that may help you decide if you want to get into the business and what equipment you'll need.
