Buying a used commercial single head embroidery machine

Howdy gals and guys :)

I already have a tajima four head, nine needle machine (TMFX-904) and I'm thinking of getting another commercial one (single head). The one I have now is my very first commercial machine that I bought in the late 90s in brand spankin' new condition. So, I don't have any experience buying used, and therefore I'm kind of scared about it because even though the machine is used, it's still pretty darn expensive. I would really appreciate any advice on this kind of thing. Thank you very much.

Why be scared? You already have a commercial machine. When you visit the used machine for inspection and to run tests, I'm sure you'd quickly recognize signs of a poorly maintained machine. If you really need peace of mind, you might want to let a certified embroidery technician determine the condition of the machine for you.

Whether you're buying from another embroiderer or from an embroidery machine dealer, get everything in writing! I know that's a given, but people can be too trusting sometimes.

I'm always scared buying big ticket items thinking something horribly wrong will happen after I make the purchase hehe... Thank God nothing ever happens though! I guess I'm a bit paranoid. I've decided to buy a another Tajima single head at another time after I purchase a new computer.
