Question Spider Hype / garmentequipment.com feedbacks

I saw www.garmentequipmentauction.com being promoted on twitter by the industry magazine https://twitter.com/#!/Impressionsmags

Anybody used their auctions to buy and sell equipment before?

www.garmentequipment.com seems to be the main site for www.garmentequipmentauction.com. i didn't see a business address on both site so i looked in the domain registry and shows garmentequipment.com is owned by a company called spider hype see file below, but when i went on www.spiderhype.com the site is closed.

They have both classifieds and auctions. i also notice garmentequipment.com and garmentequipmentauction.com have many of there classifieds and auctions identical to digitsmith posts like the ones below for example.

http://www.garmentequipmentauction.c...t-Shop---88963 -> digitsmith Complete High End manual shop

http://www.garmentequipment.com/inde...elco-gas-dryer -> digitsmith Adelco Dryer JF180-s

http://www.garmentequipment.com/inde...oidery-machine -> digitsmith 2008 SWF/E 1501C w/Digitizing Software $8995.00

http://www.garmentequipmentauction.c...-Dryer---22126 -> digitsmith More Screen Printing Equipment For Sale

http://www.garmentequipmentauction.c...achine---10954 -> digitsmith 2006 Tajima TMFX-IIC-1504

http://www.garmentequipmentauction.c...achine---71386 -> digitsmith Swf 6 head 12 needle

Jon Cryton, the garmentequipment.com director of global sales is a member here http://www.digitsmith.com/members/joncryton.html and http://boards.screenprintersopen.com...-in-the-house/

Thanx for your feedbacks.

Here is a funny little story on their website about "them". Seems totally believable.

A group of garment industry veterans, who attended a trade show, got together for a meal at a local restaurant. They talked about their careers and where their particular business was going and the industry in general. Out of the blue one of the group asked a question "What happens to our customers when they can't get the resources they need to grow their business?" Another chimed in "Great question here's one for you 'How many of your customers are sitting on quality equipment that they aren't using any more?'" It was at that moment that Garment Equipment was born.

The group decided to find a way current customers, and other garment decorators, could help themselves gain the capital resources needed by leveraging their out of service, quality used equipment. It was decided there was not just one single solution, garment decorators needed a choice on how to sell their used equipment. Cash for Equipment, Brokered Sales and the industry's first LIVE Online Auction would be the 3 vehicles to sell the equipment.

Each of them had a substantial number of world-wide connections and potential buyers/sellers in their respective databases. What they lacked was the team of people who could make their vision a reality. Each loved their current job and saw Garment Equipment as a resource for their customers, not a change of job for themselves. So they scoured the world to find just the right team with the talents and skills needed to make this project work.

With the financial backing of the original group, the new team has started the process of helping businesses gain access to capital and capital equipment (via brokered sales) to grow their business. How many times in business do we see true WIN/WIN situations play out right before our eyes?

Now comes the next generation of Garment Equipment, the launch of the Live Auction and Buy/Sell divisions. We are now poised to help virtually any business owner gain access to capital or needed equipment in any situation. Bought or sold, fast and fair Garment Equipment has your solution.

I really can't believe they would make up all the fake contact names, background story and history, email addresses, then take all the adds from this site...wonder if everyone agreed to have them represent their equipment from here?

Are you saying the names in the contact page are made up?

Appears they have permission to post their stuff.
Complete High End manual shop

I asked this guy, and he said they have permission.

So it's legit until Barnes screws somebody over again.

I sure thought so, but I could be wrong. I know that the Jon guy joined this site not too long ago but there are things about his bio that don't quite add up, I can't go into specifics but let's just say that something doesn't smell right. Jon says he's out of Cleveland, the site is registered to Robert Barnes...I'm sure we can have a hell of a time trying to fill in the rest of the story.
