Default Splicing a Dryer Conveyor Belt

Anyone have a suggestion for how to splice a conveyor belt. I just need a temporary fix till my new one gets here. It is torn on the edge, which REALLY stinks.

I had one rip on the edge once. I lossened the tension and pulled the edges together and stapled the crap outta it and took tie-wire to sew the netting.
I used that same patched-up belt for years afterwards, so you might have the same kind of luck.
